DAMPAK TRAUMA TERHADAP TOKOH UTAMA DALAM NOVEL THE PERKS OF BEING A WALLFLOWER KARYA STEPHEN CHBOSKY

Abstract
This study aims to analyze the impact of trauma experienced by the main character, Charlie, in the novel The Perks of Being A Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky. This qualitative research uses a descriptive analytical method and literary psychology approach with the concept of trauma from Cavanagh. The study aims to show how trauma impacts to the main character and the efforts of the main to resolve past trauma. The results show the reasons for the main character’s trauma include the death of his friend and his aunt, as well as sexual abuse. The study also identifies several symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) experienced by the main character, such as hyperarousal, intrusion, and constriction.
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis dampak trauma yang dialami oleh tokoh utama yang bernama Charlie dalam novel The Perks of Being A Walflower karya Stephen Chbosky. Penelitian kualitatif ini menggunakan metode deskriptif analisis dan pendekatan psikologi sastra dengan konsep trauma dari Cavanagh. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menunjukan bagaimana dampak trauma dan upaya tokoh utama dalam menyelesaikan trauma masa lalu. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa alasan tokoh utama mengalami trauma antara lain kematian sahabat dan bibinya, serta pelecehan seksual. Penulis juga menemukan beberapa gejala gangguan pasca trauma atau Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) yang dialami tokoh utama yaitu hyperarousal, intrusion, dan constriction.
