Abstract

Weeds are nuisance plants that grow at the same time as plants cultivated by humans. The growth of weeds will also cause competition between the main plants and weeds, including competition for nutrients, water, sunlight and other. The aim of this research is to identify weed vegetation on oil palm plants in the producing phase on peat soil, in order to plan control actions that can be taken by stakeholders. Observation of weed vegetation on oil palm plantations was carried out by taking sample plots using the quadrant method using purposive sampling. Plots were made using the quadrant method measuring 1 x 1 m in a square shape with a total of 9 plots consisting of 3 sample plots from each. 3 blocks were selected for each block. The results of the observations found 14 types of weeds with a total of 385 individuals consisting of broad-leafed weeds, narrow-leafed weeds, fern weeds and woody weeds. The most dominant weed population found on oil palms in the Mature Plant phase is the broad-leaf weed Asystasia gangetica with an NJD value of 31.67%. The weed diversity index value is 2.06 which is included in the high category.
