DAMPAK MEDIA SOSIAL TERHADAP PENGEMBANGAN KEMAMPUAN LITERASI DIGITAL MAHASISWA

Abstract
This research was carried out with a purpose sampling technique approach through literature research, digital research, and surveys on 33 students. This research uses the social media theory of Paul G. Zurkowski, namely the Information Literacy Theory. The concept of Zurkowski's theory explains that information literacy is the ability to utilize various tools and sources of information to solve problems. The results of the study show that students spend more than 3-5 hours per day, students are able to understand and utilize digital technology effectively, and are able to increase critical thinking on digital literacy. This study recommends a method of using social media as a means of learning to increase the level of literacy and criticality of students.
Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan pendekatan teknik purpose sampling melalui riset pustaka, riset digital, dan survei pada 33 mahasiswa menggunakan kuesioner Google Form. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori media sosial dari Paul G. Zurkowski yaitu teori Literasi Informasi (Information Literacy Theory). Konsep teori Zurkowski menjelaskan bahwa literasi informasi adalah kemampuan untuk memanfaatkan berbagai alat dan sumber informasi untuk memecahkan masalah. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa mahasiswa menghabiskan waktu berselancar di media sosial lebih dari 3-5 jam per hari, mampu untuk memahami dan memanfaatkan teknologi digital secara efektif, serta mampu meningkatkan daya berfikir kritis terhadap literasi digital. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan metode menggunakan media sosial sebagai salah satu sarana pembelajaran untuk meningkatkan tingkat literasi dan kekritisan mahasiswa.
